Extended Care Facilities at Companion Animal Care Center

Indoor extended care facilities at Companion Animal Care feature:

• 5 Indoor runs
• 21 Small, Medium, and Large cages
• And a completely separate room devoted to cats. Each cat receives its own personal condo.

Indoor kennels offer the advantage of air-conditioning and heating for the pronounced temperature differences we sometimes experience in Maryland.
All of our canine patients are walked three times a day during the week and twice on the weekends. Each dog is given positive attention each time it is walked outside. Our extended care areas are always kept clean.
All of our guests sleep on towels and blankets in their cages/runs, not on newspaper or the cold steel/concrete flooring of their cage/run.

Our extended care stay involves obtaining a weight on your pet daily. Any problems that are revealed are brought to Dr. Johnston’s attention for evaluation.

We feed our patients a prescription diet that is designed to reduce the incidence of stomach upset, which can occur when a pet is in a new environment, twice a day while they stay with us.
If you prefer to bring your pet’s own food and/or any toys , please do so, as it can often make them feel more comfortable during their stay with us. Any procedures you would like to have done while your
pet is staying with us can be accommodated. Some of these include, but are not limited to; bathing/grooming, ear cleaning, anal sac expression, and nail trimming. Vaccines should be updated at least 2 weeks
prior to your pet’s stay, but we can update any needed vaccines during the stay and perform our microchipping procedure. If vaccines are overdue at the time of arrival, you will incur a $5 per night isolation fee.
Please book as early as possible, as our space tends to fill up quickly.
